Skills Xchange for Wakefield College

The newly completed Skills Exchange is located on a 9 acre site to the Northern end of Blue Ridge Park at Glasshoughton. It comprises approximately 120,000 sq ft made up of 2/3 storey spaces which house a variety of exciting uses including a spacious dramatic triple height library and recreation area, specialist construction and skills bays, teaching classrooms, staff spaces and state of the art hair and beauty training suite. The new college accommodates in excess of 2,500 16 – 19 year old students studying skills based qualifications. Waystone commenced building works in May 2007 and the building was completed in January 2009.

Distribution Headquarters – TEVA/ProLogis

This building is a new distribution warehouse and headquarters being developed by ProLogis on Summit Park at Glasshoughton.

TEVA UK Limited are the UK’s biggest supplier of generic prescription drugs. The Company is part of TEVA Pharmaceutical Industries Limited which is among the top 20 pharmaceutical companies in the world operating in over 50 countries and employing over 26,000 people worldwide.

Located on a 9.75 acre site at the Western end of Summit Park, the development comprises 18,724 sqm of 14.5m high (12.35m clear) warehouse and 4,875 sqm of 4 storey integrated offices. Two vehicle access points serve the site and the warehouse will have 19 dock level doors and 1 level access door.

Supermarket for Asda

Waystone are currently constructing a new store, car park and associated works for Asda. Once the new store is complete Waystone will demolish the existing store and complete the car park areas.

The construction programme will be managed in a series of phases to enable the existing store to remain open, the service diversions are being carried out by Waystone’s civil engineering team and a section of road, the Coalfields Link, is being built which will enable the existing Leeds Road to be closed and the two Asda sites merged.

The store is 6317 m² of which 3251 m² is retail space. It has a separate goods delivery access which leads to an enclosed delivery yard.

A petrol filling station is to be added at a later date. The shell building is scheduled to be complete in July 2008 with the project complete in May 2009. However, the new store is planning to trade by November 2008.
