Waystone has constructed a new store, car park and associated works for Asda. The store is now complete wth the old store demolished and the car park complete.
The construction programme was managed in a series of phases to enable the existing store to remain open, the service diversions were carried out by Waystone’s civil engineering team and a section of road, the Coalfields Link, was built enabling the then existing Leeds Road to be closed and the two Asda sites merged.
The store is 6317 m² of which 3251 m² is retail space. It has a separate goods delivery access which leads to an enclosed delivery yard.
A petrol filling station was then added and the shell building was completed in July 2008 with the project completed in May 2009, with the new store open for trading in November 2008.
