Castleford could see 140 new homes built near Glasshoughton
Waystone, the developers behind the multi-million pound plans for the new Castleford Tigers Stadium at Glasshoughton have submitted a planning application for the new houses. The firm hope to gain initial approval for the proposal that could see the new builds off Flass Lane.
A Waystone representative said:
"The proposed site is an underdeveloped section of land of 5.4 hectares to the west of the Glasshoughton regeneration site, about a kilometre south of Castleford town centre.
"The site is bounded to the west by a playing field which connects to an existing residential estate. The south and east the coalfields link road will eventually border the development site upon its completion. Industrial units are to the north of the plot.
"The proposed scheme will accommodate up to 140 housing units with associated car parking, and attractive landscaping."
Waystone have long had an involvement in the area starting since the Glasshoughton revamp began in 1994.
This continued more recently as, working alongside Wakefield Council and Castlefield Tigers, Waystone secured planning permission for a new 15,000 capacity stadium.
