Waystone - active community linksWaystone invests time and energy into establishing community links and assimilating information on local views and requirements. That information is integrated with the planning and implementation programme to create beneficial development. However, Waystone's role in the community does not end at the planning stage. A Community Liaison Worker maintains contact throughout the key phases of a project, initiating school and community projects and providing a regular flow of news on progress and problems but, most of all, providing that vital link to enable community views to be heard and understood by the company. In addition, Waystone's Environmental Engineer will Waystone - active community linksadvise communities on the impact development may have and how any problems can and will be mitigated.

At Waystone's Glasshoughton project near Castleford in Yorkshire senior staff attend regular meetings of the local Forum and the Joint Chair of the Forum is on record as follows:Waystone - active community links

"It was a great pleasure to meet the staff of Waystone on the first Open Day held at The Miners' Pavilion. Since that day we here in the village are more than delighted to work along Waystone. All the residents have nothing but praise for all the staff and workers on the site; they are all approachable and very helpful to us all at Glasshoughton."

In addition at Stainforth, by Junction 5 M18 motorway, Waystone is proposing a new Marina project.

In order to ascertain the views and opinions of the local people, Waystone held an open day to display a model of the proposals and to invite attendees to complete a detailed questionnaire utilising information now analysed to include in a proposed planning application likely to be submitted in 2007.
